3. What is SBPEA doing about Health Care reform?

It's OUR Healthcare!
It is time we take a stand and begin the fight for:
Quality, affordable health care that allows all Californians to get the health care they need when they need it.
Insurance reforms to control costs and allow everyone access to quality healthcare and coverage.
Employers and government sharing responsibility and risk with consumers.
Limits on the risk and burdens placed on individual consumers and families, and protecting them from being forced to buy coverage they cannot afford and that does not cover their healthcare needs.
Prevention and safety efforts to help individuals get healthy and stay healthy, by providing healthy communities and choices, while not placing financial barriers to care.
Policies to preserve and strengthen our public hospitals, emergency rooms and trauma centers that all Californians rely on.
Efforts to control costs, while protecting benefits and preventing increased financial barriers to care.
SBPEA has joined a coalition with every important labor organization in the state -BECAUSE everyone should get the health care they need when they need it...
BECAUSE our lives and livelihoods, and those of our children and families, depend on it...
BECAUSE sickness and injury are difficult and frightening enough without having to worry about not getting the care we need or about facing medical debt or bankruptcy...
BECAUSE it's our health care...and it should be our choice!

The Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House

Needs Your Assistance!

Please join the SBPEA Public Relations Committee in supporting the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House (LLRMH) for 2011!

Pennies From The Heart

Collect pennies or change from co-workers, friends, and family to help support the LLRMH to fund the fabulous support program it offers to our community in their time of need.

The LLRMH Wish List

In order to provide necessities for the families they support, LLRMH needs your help! Many times, families aren’t able to leave the hospital for hours or days on end and often miss set meal times at LLRMH.  They sit for long hours at their child's bedside writing thank you notes and update letters to families and friends.  After all the surgeries, therapies, and treatments, parents sometimes get a chance to “get away” to see a movie. Please click on the flyer to the right to learn more.

Help SBPEA give the Gift of Sight!

The SBPEA Public Relations Committee needs your help!  Donate your used prescription eyewear in one of the collection boxes in the SBPEA lobby or on the Mobile Office.  The eyewear is recycled and donated to underprivileged people in need of vision care in our communities! It's that simple!

RETIREES: Did You Know?

SBPEA retirees have their own email address?

Yes! They can contact SBPEA directly at retiree@sbpea.com.   All current retirees and members that are planning to retire in the near future are encouraged to use the email address to ask questions; let us know about their upcoming retirement date; make suggestions; etc.

SBPEA retirees can continue to enjoy member benefits for only $6.00 per year?

Yes!  What a bargain! Be sure to contact SBPEA well in advance of your retirement, so that we can ensure that you are aware of all the benefits available to you.

The Public Relations Committee has implemented a new program focused on highlighting the importance and recognition of our retirees?

Yes!  The PR Committee wants to hear from you!  We want our retirees to be recognized for their loyalty to our union and keep them informed about upcoming retiree activities; new benefits and discounts that may be added in the near future.

(You may have seen our Retiree Flyer recently, but if not, feel free to view or download it from here: Retiree Flyer or by clicking on the image of the flyer.)
